You can still access personal development if you are placed on furlough leave

The Organisational Development team are on hand to support individuals with development options and schemes. Engaging with development can offer a sense of achievement and purpose as well as helping feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Speak to the team in a drop in sessions if you would like advice

If you are unsure about your development, the options available or wish to speak to the team, we are running virtual drop in sessions on Mondays between 10-12 through Microsoft Teams. Email training@lincoln.ac.uk for the team member leading the drop in each week.

Take a look at LinkedIn Learning

A video based platform enabling ‘just in time’ support and development. Highly recommended for software and technology products such as Teams, One Note and the full 365 suite. LinkedIn Learning is brilliant for when you need to know how to do something, right there and then.

Try something new

Trying something new doesn’t need to be something massive, perhaps just consider finding a podcast or webinar relevant to your specific area of work. You could even just research development or career frameworks in your own area.

Online Personal Development Modules

They are a great way to fit in some short and impactful development. The OD team will post their ‘module of the week’ on staff news over the next few weeks to support your development. After you’ve finished the module, take some time to think about how you can use this in practice.

Checklist

  • Check if you are up to date with your mandatory online training

  • Take a look through the personal development modules and pick some to work through

  • Reflect and think of your short term (6 months), mid term (1-2 years) and long term (5 years) goals for your personal and professional development. Then consider, how will you achieve them?

  • Consider what development looks like for your own area of work, what’s the next step for you?

  • Take a look at your recent PDR, have you made progress on your objectives? Update your end of year review with the information – it will give you a boost!
