Sustainable Diet
One of the better ways to reduce your carbon footprint is to embrace a plant-based diet, this doesn’t mean completely changing your diet, but providing more balance between a carbon-heavy and a carbon-light diet. Here are some quick tips to lower your diet carbon footprint:
- Choose white meats such as chicken instead of red meats like beef or pork
- Look for wild-fished seafood instead of those coming from fish farms
- Eat seasonally to avoid the carbon footprint of travel and processing by choosing local and seasonal fruit and veg
- Switch dairy milk to plant-based milk for sweeter, less carbon-emitting milk. But do your research, each plant-based milk has its own pros and cons in terms of resources used to grow, manufacture and deliver
- Take on the challenge of cooking one new meat-free recipe a month
