Rejuvenate this January
January can be a month that drags after all the excitement of Christmas and New Year, but it can also be a great time of the year to make positive changes that set us up for the rest of the year.
Clean out the kitchen cupboards
Go through all the food and check the expiration dates, you would be amazed what you hold on to past the use by date. Why not go a step further and for all those foods you have had more than a year and are still in date and unopened, donate them to a local food bank as it is likely that if you haven’t used it by now, you won’t ever but they could be put to good use!
Start a daily detox
We don’t mean go to an extreme but rather why not consider just starting each day with a cup of warm lemon water? An intake of extra fluid and the boost of Vitamin C from the lemon will start your day fresh and cleansed.
Give your liver a rest
Whether you have enjoyed a few too many tipples over Christmas, smoke or enjoy fatty foods, it is always a good idea to give your liver a chance to refresh. Try limiting your alcohol intake over January, but make it fun by trying new soft drinks or making mocktails.
If you do smoke, try lessen your daily amount. Not only will this help your liver, but also your bank balance.
Processed foods, fatty foods and foods containing artificual ingredients all put pressure on our livers as it relies on it to filter out the toxins, which these foods are full of! Try including vibrant fruit and veg in to your diet, these include lots of antioxidents that are not only easy for your liver to process but also help it recover.
Cut out the cheese
Christmas is often a time when we indulge in luxury cheeses and it is easy to continue to have that bit of cheese and a cracker before bed but cheese can lead to vivid dreams, dream that often unsettle our sleep and wake us. So, just try and cut back on those evening snacks!
